American Militia under the command of Colonel John Todd with subordinate officers Lt. Col. Stephen Trigg and Lt. Col. Daniel Boone were led into an ambush and defeated by a combined force of American Indians and British Rangers. The vastly outnumbered American force of approximately 182 suffered casualties of approximately 72 killed and 11 captured.
