Any man shall be eligible for membership in this Chapter who, being of the age of eighteen years or older, and a citizen of good standing, is the lineal descendant of an ancestor who was at all times unfailing in their loyalty to and rendered actual service in the cause for American independence. Qualifying service shall include:
- military service as an officer, soldier, marine, sailor, militiaman, and/or minuteman in the armed forces of the Continental Congress or any one of the several Colonies or States,
- signer of the Declaration of Independence,
- member of a Committee of Safety or correspondence,
- member of any continental, provincial or Colonial Congress or Legislature,
- civil officer, either in one of the colonies or states, or of the national government,
- recognized patriot, who performed overt acts of resistance to the authority of Great Britain, and
- those who provided materials and supplies, labor and/or services to the War of Independence.
Documentation requirements for membership in this Chapter are the same as those of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. Membership in the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution is required for membership in the Governor Isaac Shelby Chapter - Kentucky Society Sons of the American Revolution.
Chapter meeting are normally held the third Thursday of every month at the United Methodist Church, 11902 Old Shelbyville Road, Middletown, KY. For detailed information on our next meeting please refer to our Upcoming Events.
